Crossbow was drawn by Jason, my first born son, when he was 12 years old. This is how it happened:
In 1994 when the Internet was first starting to explode with new development, I decided to create my own web site in order to circumvent the record companies and bring my music directly to the people via cyberspace. First, I found a local Internet Service Provider and I was lucky enough to be able to work with Amy, a brilliant and cute young technical programmer. Amy became my web page design guru and she deserves the credit for showing me how to achieve all my desired effects. As part of this web site creation process, I began playing around with my name. First I decided to call my recording band Crossfire. Next, I named my music production company Starcrost Productions, and in one final burst of my typical quirky humor, I named my publishing company Hot Cross Buns. In November of 1995, this website went on the Internet at the URL, www.crossfire.net, where it remained until 1998.
I conceived of the concept for Crossbow when I was in the process of designing this web site during 1995. I wanted to have something on my home page that would be different from what everybody else uses to form the navigation map of a web sit site. I wanted my map to be like the trunk of a tree with branches which would lead to my secondary web pages, making navigation around my site both easy and understandable to the average internet user. At that time, my sons Jason and Alex were both into action characters like Spiderman, the X-men, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Jason was beginning to show some talent as an artist. I wanted to involve both of them in my new creative expression and I had already involved Alex twice. First, I recorded him doing The Belchmeister, and then I used his song title idea "Hangin' with Arnie". So I asked Jason to draw me an original action figure consisting of a man with outstretched arms, and instead of having hands there would be crossbows shooting arrows out in different directions with lines which I intended to have lead directly to clickable options which would take web site visitors to the various secondary pages. Jason went into his bedroom and one hour later came out with exactly what you see here. I said, "Jason, that's it. Thank you so much, my son". I was just as impressed with his creation at that time as I am today because Jason drew the unique vision I had in my mind. Amy turned Jason's graphic into a gif file, and she created the clickable options within the graphic. I told Amy what effect I wanted to achieve, but there's no way I could have done it without her assistance. To this day, I have not come across any other web site where a designer has used something which was produced by their child to form a navigation map of their web site and I have no intention of EVER altering Jason's work in the slightest detail. I am proud of what Jason created for me when he was 13 years old, and in my not-so-humble opinion, my home page stands alone as a work of creative internet art because of what Jason and Amy helped me create.
Jason and Alex are both super-intelligent and charismatic to the max. I've never encountered two brothers like these boys because when Alex was born and Jason was three years old, I immediately witnessed a brotherly love that was unlike anything I'd seen in other siblings in my entire life. Jason took Alex under his wing right from the very first day he was brought back from the hospital, and Alex worshiped his older brother. Here's one of my very favorite photos of both of them when they were very young. For reasons that should be obvious, they were my "all stars".

For about 10 years, they were absolutely inseparable, everybody I knew saw the same thing in them that I saw, and many people used to tell me how special they both were. During their teenage years, they used to fight with each other in a special way too, just expressing their teenage craziness and aggressiveness safely with each other. I used to tell them to save that fighting for when they were with their mother, but they were just doing what came naturally. Nowadays, they are inseparable again, with an amazing mutual love and respect for each other that is unlike anything I've ever witnessed.
The following is a personal bio and stats that Jason wrote for me back in 1996 when he was 13 years old. After I had written my Peter Cross Bio and Jason had read what I wrote, I asked him to write me something similar. This is exactly what Jason wrote in response to my request: NAME:   Jason. HEIGHT: Does it really matter? WEIGHT: Under yet overweight.
INTERESTS: Thinking of ways to kill teachers, writing, drawing, killing teachers, and, um, uh, nevermind. (heh heh) Long, romantic walks at night on the beach, candlelit dinners, and really long kisses.
