This particular "story of my life" was written when I was about 16 years old.

Lost Dreams

Lost dreams and broken promises - the story of my life
Until that day that fortune smiled on me, and you said that you'd be my wife
And now that many years have passed us by and we're still holding hands
All our friends swear we're a lucky pair, and I have to agree with them

People say that when a man and woman meet each other
Sparks fly and fantasies have a way of coming true
Most of all the laughter and the sound of lovers sighing
Come alive in memories when I really get close to you

And when I think of all the opportunities not meant to be
All those lost dreams and promises you made nonessential to me
And now that many years have passed us by and we're still holding hands
All our friends swear we're a lucky pair, and I have to agree with them

Do you believe that somewhere lives a man for every woman?
If you do, then push on through like flowers through the ground
Think of me on cloudy days in lonely cold December
Visualize the warm July's when love is all around

Commentary:

I think I got a few concepts completely confused here, but I suppose I was trying to project positively about my future with Mona. But I also think it's interesting how I had this habit of foreseeing the future without knowing that I was doing it. Looking back now, there's no question that lost dreams and promises truly is at least one of the major themes in my life.
