This recording is rather primitive but it's one of only four examples of me singing and
playing acoustic guitar in front of a live audience.   I only did that once.
For Sri Swami Satchidananda.

Hey Ram

Hey Ram, hey, hey Ram - Hey Ram, hey, hey Ram
Hey Ram - Hey, Rama Krishna

Come on children, sing a simple song
Happiness is knowing you belong
Give your love as freely as the wind
God forgives you when you know you've sinned

Hey Ram, hey, hey Ram - Hey Ram, hey, hey Ram
Hey Ram - Hey, Rama Krishna

Lift your spirits to the greatest height
God is Jesus, God is truth and light
God is all the yogis and the sages
God is in the prophets through the ages
God is Jesus, God is Rama, God is Krishna, God is Brahma
God is Vishnu, God is Siva, God is Moses, God is Diva
God is Allah, God is Truth, God is me, God is you!
God is you!   God is you!   God is, God is, God is . . .   love

Come on children, simple is the way
Open up to what the masters say
It doesn't take much knowledge of the brain
Feel the joy, forget about the pain

Hey Ram, hey, hey Ram - Hey Ram, hey, hey Ram
Hey Ram - Hey, Rama Krishna
God is, God is, God is . . .   love
Hey Ram!

Peter Cross is the songwriter, the singer, and the guitar player.

Commentary:

Well, it's a Bo Diddley yogic rocker, that's for sure! I tried to honor good old Bo several times when I wanted to write something cool. Like I said on Knight in Shining Armor which was inspired by Bo's original beat and sound, he filled up that groove so well that it's REALLY hard to come up with something new that fits his musical concept. But I did it, and this time I filled it with Yoga. Imagine that. I can only wonder how Bo would feel if he ever heard this song.
