I have a secret I can't keep that echoes down within my sleep
I had a feeling in my head what it was like when I was dead
Oh I feel the years bringing on my fears
And now they tell me I'm insane
Oh I feel the years bringing on my fears |
Peter Cross is the songwriter and the singer.
Commentary:
There's a lot about this song that I like (and it's not the rhymes either). First of all, it's the
subject matter of reincarnation, and I'm still wondering why I even wrote about it as a teenager when it was only many
years later that I actually learned all about reincarnation and why the vast majority of humans on this planet believe in
it. I think my title is a great one, and the line that says "Between the stars my mind would spin, the further out, the
further in" is a classic one - right out of some great science fiction book that I could have written. Playing with
reality certainly is a dangerous game that I often play, and that game has taken me to some very interesting places on
more than one occasion. My prescient fears turned out to be way more than real, and I eventually had to face them all.
But now that part of my life is over, and it's on to bigger and better things.
