This song was never recorded, and it's probably a good thing it wasn't because, I mean,
who cares where I sat?   Here, There, Everywhere - even I don't care where I sat!
But seriously, it's the first song I ever wrote and it's my web site, isn't it?

I Sit Here

The wind is my friend, I've got some time to spend, so I sit here
Touched by the breeze the leaves whisper to me, and I sit here
The shadows grow longer, I know I belong here
So I sit and chew on a blade of grass
Watching the shapes of the clouds as they drift past
I sit here, I sit here

I've been here as long as I can remember
I've got no reason to go . . . so

I sit here in the shade of my tree
Listening to the birds speak to me, only me
Feeling the last warming trace of the sun
The sunset's begun
And all I can do is sit here

Commentary:

This is the first song I ever wrote and it's so devoid of importance I can't believe it. But I really do remember sitting down at my mother's piano after having written a bunch of poetry and saying to myself, "I think I can put one of these things to music". And then this melody came to me and it is a pretty melody that only exists in my mind now. I suppose if I lighten up on myself a bit it's kind of tender and sensitive - but oh so boring. And that's why it's the last song on the Lost Songs list. Love to end with a show-stopper, right?
