Peacefully moving across calm waters, she glides
The white swan - she's always there
All in one movement, she shakes the earth from her wings
The white swan - she's always here
Calling the sound of her lover's name, she breaks my heart with joy
The white swan - she knows her pace
Beauty and purpose in every action, I can't believe she's real
The white swan - she's always there |
Peter Cross is the songwriter, the singer, and the guitar player.
Commentary:
The white swan is the yogic symbol for God in a similar way that the dove is a symbol for the Holy
Spirit in Christianity. I wrote this song about Swami Karunananda and you can read about her and see her photo in
The Swami and Me. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for these lyrics which
I think are very poetic, with beautiful and sensitive imagery. The melody is hauntingly beautiful and the chord
progressions are interesting and different. All these qualities are things I tried very hard to embody in every song I
wrote and I think I hit the nail squarely on the head in this one.
